The Perry & Webb Families of Tennessee and Kentucky

Notes

Henry Washington Cain

He served in the Confederate Army, and after the war settled near Barnesville, Lamar Co., GA.

Willis Alfred Bearden

RESEARCH: He is shown in SAW with two marriages, to Ellen Wilburn and Annie Davis. Leisa Horn says that the women were married to Alfred J. Bearden instead.

Jenny W. (Jane) Fambrough

An assumption has been made that it was Jenny who married a man named Bryant, who had a son Wm. J. Bryant, and a grandson, Wm. Fambro Bryant.
Jenny and her brother Wm. W. were the only children named in their father's will.
In the will of William W. Fambro (he used the short spelling) dated Aug. 29, 1860, atCahawba, Dallas Co. Ala he refers to "Wm. J. Bryant, my nephew and Wm. Fambro Bryant, son of Wm. J. Bryant." (Dallas Co. Ala. will B p 250). In the probate court, Vol. 3 p 37 is said: "a portion of the heirs are non-residents", these evidently were the Bryant family. The author followed every reasonable clue, but was unable to obtain information about this Bryant family.

On Oct. 17, 1859, Wm. J. Bryant sold to W.W. Fambro a saw mill engine, but no information was given to show where Bryant lived.

Stewart Fambrough

The only record found of Stewart Fambrough in Virginia was when he and Robert Weakley Jr. and Thomas Parker Jr. witnessed a deed from Robt. Weakley, Sr. to Robert Fambrough on April 5, 1794 (Halifax Co 16i p 401)

Stewart Fambrough received two grants from Tennessee on the waters of Sulphur Creek during 1809, Nos. 24693 and 6899 and one grant as assignee of heirs of Roger Topp also in 1809, No 6898. Then in 1815 he received another Tenn. grant No 24694. These four are recorded in Tenn. Archive records. Samuel Weakley surveyed grants Nos 6898 and 6899. It was on this Sulphur Cr. property where Stewart Fambrough lived and died.
It was while Fambrough was living on the Harpeth River land that he was made Ensign in the 2nd Tenn. Regiment of Davidson County on Dec. 17, 1798.

Stewart Fambrough was listed in the Free Whites of Davidson Co. for the year 1812 (Dav. Co minutes 1809-13 p 826)

Susannah Topp

On July 11, 1797 John Topp of Dav. Co. sold to Susannah and Sarah Topp, 240 Acres for $240; it being on waters of Big Harpeth River, "on 1st Creek east of the Big South Road". This section was then a part of Davidson Co. (Dav. deed D p 218) and was about 10 miles south east of Franklin, on McCrary Creek about 1/2 mile south of Arno at the old Kinnard graveyard. On June 15, 1809 Stewart Fambrough and Thomas Parker of Davidson County sold to John Topp of Dav. Co. the 240 Acres shown above for $240. (Williamson Co. F p 96) (Note: Between these sales Susannah Topp had married Stewart Fambrough and Sarah Topp had married Thomas Parker)
This was the place where Stewart Fambrough was living before he acquired his land on Sulphur Creek, west of Nashville, and where Robert Fambrough and his caravan arrived "a while in the night," on Tuesday, Apr. 28, 1807.
